Diversity of extracellular vesicles from different developmental stages of Fasciola hepatica

The secretion of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in Fasciola hepatica adult worms was described by our group in 2012. Since then, EVs have been found in other helminths, thus providing a new paradigm for the complete understanding of host-parasite communication. However, information was lacking regarding the possible existence and role of EVs from other developmental stages of the parasite. In this study, we confirm the secretion of EVs by F. hepatica eggs and juvenile forms. EVs were isolated by size exclusion chromatography and characterised by nanoparticle tracking analysis and electron microscopy. Desde 1920 a la postguerra, el movimiento estudiantil logró fuerte presencia en la universidad valenciana, y luego en la clandestinidad y el exilio. Se inician las tres asociaciones que dominan el período: Federación Regional de Estudiantes Católicos, la Federación Universitaria Escolar que continúa en el exilio en Francia y México, y la Asociación Valencianista Escolar. La política juvenil que el franquismo puso en pie estuvo siempre bajo responsabilidad de los falangistas, desde el momento mismo de su constitución en 1937 hasta el desmantelamiento de la Secretaría General del Movimiento en 1977. En este artículo se estudia en qué modelos se inspiraron los falangistas para ponerla en marcha, ya que se parte de la constatación bien fundada de que la Falange carecía de experiencia en ese ámbito concreto. En priemr lugar, analiza sus antecedentes: la última resistencia democrática republicana en los años cuarenta y los cambios culturales de los años cincuenta. [EN] The aim of this study is to determine the usefulness of the Management and Intervention Inventory for Young (IGI-J) in predicting the past recidivism in young offenders, and the implementation of appropriate intervention programs for that population. A retrospective study with a sample of 258 juvenile offenders who were serving a penal measure was performed. The instrument that evaluated the prediction of recidivism is the Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (Hoge and Andrews, 2002). The Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory (YPI) was designed to assess psychopathic traits in adolescents. However, there exists limited evidence for the factor structure and psychometric properties of the YPI when used with Chinese detained juveniles. The present study aimed to examine the factor structure and construct validity of the YPI and its shortened version (YPI-S) in a sample of 607 Chinese 14- to 22-year-old detained boys (M = 17.15, SD = 1.09). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed a bifactor model which best fit the data at the subscale level for the YPI, and at the item level for the YPI-S. The digestive enzymes (proteases, carbohydrases and lipases) present along the alimentary tract of juveniles and adults of Diplodus puntazzo were studied. The data obtained showed a different distribution of the enzymatic activities in the different parts of the alimentary tract. Levels of enzymatic activity in the adults were higher than those measured in juveniles, suggesting that adults have a greater ability to digest larger pieces of food. The enzymatic pattern of D. puntazzo justifies its omnivorous habit and suggests an high potential for digesting vegetable polysaccharides. The ontogenetic development and pattern of main digestive enzyme activities (proteases, carbohydrases and lipases) were investigated in farmed sharpsnout seabream Diplodus puntazzo larvae and juveniles, during the passage from the larval stage to adult (from 21 to 277 days after hatching - DAH). Larvae showed exponential growth, thus confirming that Rotifers and Artemia nauplii are suitable preys for early feeding of D. puntazzo larvae. Pepsin activity was low in the larvae, but it increased afterwards in relation with stomach development.
